Burbot burbot – We make burbot with our own hands

A snitch is not only a gamble, but also a very catchy tackle for catching burbot. It looks like a certain weight of the desired shape (spoon, jig) with one or more hooks.

The name of the snitch was given by the principle of her work – tapping her on the bottom. This means that the snitch should be allowed to sink as much as possible (that is, to the bottom), and then slowly raise it by fifteen to twenty centimeters and let it sink back to the bottom.

With a properly selected mass (depending on the conditions – from fifteen to thirty grams), the snitch will not jump in one place, and each time it will shift slightly, slightly planning, and when lowering, it will knock on the bottom of the reservoir and make an intriguing catfish sound … This sound can be complicated with the help of additional construction, for example, by adding additional rings.

The distribution of weight and the location of the hooks on the snorkel is such that the hooks have a minimal chance of getting caught on the bottom.

The vertical snapper is similar to a winter perch lure, only slightly different in size and weight. She is often called Kovalev’s lure.

The horizontal snorkel looks like a large jig, only the winding ring for the fishing line is not on top, but on the side, which makes it go backwards, and is almost horizontally suspended in weight.

The rocker bite has a predictable rocker shape – it is a balance bar with two equal arms, each of which ends with a hook. It is the rocker that has the most active play, planning when lowering, and additionally twisting when lifting.

Despite its popularity, such tackle as a snitch cannot be bought in a store. But you can do it yourself.

In order to make the simplest, but no less catchy snapper, you need a small sheet of metal about a millimeter thick (it can be copper, brass, bronze or nickel – that is, they are good sound conductors and are used for casting bells), a little lead, wire, file, sandpaper and a couple of hooks.

First, you need to cut blanks six centimeters long and three centimeters wide from a metal plate. On each workpiece, you need to draw a longitudinal line – in the middle, then bend the workpiece along this line. The fold angle is sixty degrees, which should result in something like a gable roof. In the very center of the workpiece, you need to make a hole and insert a wire eyelet into it to attach the fishing line. After that, you need to turn the workpiece over and attach holes on the sides and just under the fold a pair of hooks, the tip of each of them should stick up and to the side, like horns. Now you need to very carefully pour the workpiece with molten lead and let it cool. After cooling down, you need to carefully walk over the received snorkel with a file, then – with fine sandpaper and finally – polish it to a mirror shine. The simplest rocker hook is ready to use.

If you want to experiment and add acoustic or light effects, you can add a winding ring, several additional small petals (or rings), you can glow.

The snitch is a very catchy tackle, because the burbot has excellent hearing. The main thing is to choose the right mass so that the snorkel turns out to be playful and be sure to make sure that the bottom is clean and not a bit silted up, otherwise all efforts will be in vain.
