Maggot – he is maggot. Big, thick, beautiful cream color – in general, just a handsome man and the dream of any fish. It seems what else can be done with such a handsome man besides using it for its intended purpose – as bait. It turns out that it can be painted in the desired, more attractive color. For example, in red (pink), green, blue (cyan), yellow and even white.
Maggot staining red
Red (pink) color will give the most ordinary boiled beets. Beets need to be boiled, then allowed to cool to room temperature and grated on a fine grater. Then take the container, put the grated beets in it and add the maggot requiring coloring to it.
Maggot is not a person, it easily turns into the color of the food eaten, and the longer it sits in beets, the more its color will be closer to that of beetroot. If you need pink, then either the beets should be taken lighter, or not overexposed in the container.
You can use cherries or cherries instead of beets – it will also turn out beautifully.
Maggot staining yellow
Yellow. To do this, you need boiled finely chopped egg yolk. The essence is the same – grated yolk is placed in a container and maggot is planted, which is kept there until the desired color is obtained.
The brighter the color of the yolk, the brighter the maggot will be, the paler – the lighter the maggot will have, and the maggot that has eaten an overcooked egg with a very light yolk may not get yellow, but an incomprehensible grayish tint.
Maggot staining orange
Grated boiled carrots will give an orange hue. The carrots are boiled. Rubbed on a grater, placed in a container for maggot. After eating carrots, the maggots become as orange as the carrots themselves.
Maggot staining white
White. In this case, there are several options. This is the use of boiled egg, flour with chalk, or cottage cheese. Cottage cheese or finely grated boiled egg white is placed in a prepared container. The maggots that are full of cottage cheese or protein become completely white.
If flour is used, it is mixed with finely ground chalk, after which this mixture is added to the usual maggot ration. By the way, you can also add a little grated chalk to the cottage cheese.
Maggot staining green
Green. The most common canned green peas will give a beautiful green color. The brighter the color of the pea, the brighter the maggot will be. The essence is the same – to feed the maggots with peas. To do this, you need to drain the liquid from the jar of peas and plant the maggots to the peas, or transfer the maggots to a container with peas and keep it there until the desired effect is obtained. To enhance the effect, you can add carefully chopped herbs – parsley, for example, or dill.
Coloring maggots in other colors
Black, blue, purple and any other color can be obtained by adding a dye of the desired color to the food for maggots (for example, in the same cottage cheese). The dye must be food and fat-soluble (there are also water-soluble ones).
Multi-colored maggots are, of course, good, just do not forget that harmful fish may prefer maggots in their usual colors, so it will be unreasonable to paint all available maggots. Better in the evening to plant part of the maggots in beets, part in peas, a little in cottage cheese, and part must be left unpainted. Well, do not forget that this color is short-lived, and will come off as soon as the food changes, and with it the contents of the stomach.
